During our first two weeks in Arequipa we took Spanish classes for four hours each weekday morning with Sonia and Patricia. 

For Susan this brought back many memories of her two years of high school Spanish classes many years ago. For Jerry learning Spanish just added to his international vocabulary of English, bits of French, and some Afrikaans. And when one of our teachers would ask us to translate English words into Spanish sometimes he would start to reply in one of the other two languages in his brain. When listening to someone speak quickly in Spanish Jerry does a good job of understanding quite a few words. Our Spanish instruction will be put to good use during the 11 weeks we are in South America.
