Mirador de Yanahuara in Arequipa – October 2018

This panoramic viewpoint of the city and the three surrounding volcanoes is a 10 minute walk from our apartment.

We often sit on the benches in the adjacent park to watch photographers take pictures of newly married couples and children celebrating birthdays.

One afternoon we were entertained by the local police department members, including several dressed in the mascot costumes, standing for a publicity picture. And the mascots even volunteered to pose with a happy bride and groom.

The mirador is also a favorite spot for tourists to pose for photos in front of the fountain or ashlar arches and local residents to walk their dogs.
